Spinal Stenosis

Condition in which the spinal column narrows and starts compressing the spinal cord. Too much narrowing can compress the nerves and cause problems.


Symptoms may include:

  • numbness in buttocks or legs

  • arm or leg weakness

  • balance problems


Spinal Stenosis can be caused by:

  • defects in the spine at birth

  • a naturally narrow spinal cord

  • scoliosis or spinal curvature

  • paget's disease

  • bone tumors

  • achondroplasia, a type of dwarfism
