Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP)
What is Platelet-Rich Plasma?
Platelet-Rich Plasma, more commonly referred to as PRP, is a concentrate of plasma from a patient's own blood that contains powerful growth factors. Injection of platelets help accelerate the healing of injured muscles, tendons, joints and ligaments. PRP harnesses a patients own healing system to improve musculoskeletal problems.
PRP Injection Overview
At Thrive, PRP injections are prepared by drawing a patient's blood into 1 or more tubes which are then run through a centrifuge at very high speeds. The centrifuge will separate the platelets which are then injected directly into the patients injured area, releasing growth factors that stimulate and increase the number of reparative cells your body produces. Thrive performs PRP injections under ultrasound or fluoroscopic imaging guidance.
