The Thrive Story

   Thrive is an award-winning practice founded by pioneers of the Atlanta Interventional Pain industry with over 50 years of combined experience in Anesthesia and Interventional Pain.


   We are a team of interventional pain doctors treating victims of auto accidents and other accidental injuries as well as patients experiencing acute or chronic pain. We leverage our large network of medical providers (i.e. imaging centers, physical therapists, chiropractors, orthopedic surgeons) to provide a comprehensive treatment plan to relieve your pain as quickly as possible.

   Thrive is proud to be Georgia's first non-Narcotic Interventional Pain practice to combat Georgia's Opioid epidemic while still effectively addressing our patients underlying pain conditions.

   We create tailored treatment plans for each of our patients utilizing effective non-Narcotic medication in combination with non-surgical, minimally invasive procedures to relieve our Patient's pain. We accept all major insurances and work on direct lien and letters of protection for personal injury cases.

Rajesh Patel, MD

Founder & Interventional Pain Specialist

    Dr. Rajesh Patel is a board-certified Anesthesiologist. Dr. Patel has been practicing Interventional Pain in the Atlanta area since 1999 and has extensive experience across a broad spectrum of patient conditions. Previous to Thrive, Dr. Patel co-founded Comprehensive Pain Management with 9 locations across the Greater Atlanta Area. His success as an Interventional Pain Physician is rooted in a sincere approach to patient care, ensuring his patients fully understand their conditions, available treatment options and most importantly what is in the best interest of the patient and their family.

   Dr. Patel completed an Anesthesia Residency at the University of Medicine & Dentistry in New Jersey. Dr. Patel lives in the Atlanta area with his wife and two children and enjoys spirituality and travelling.

Daren Newfield, MD

Orthopaedic Surgeon

Dr. Daren Newfield is a board certified Orthopedic surgeon who has dedicated his life to making his patients whole again. Dr. Newfield obtained his medical degree from Emory University and completed his internship in Orthopedics as well as his residency in orthopedic surgery at Georgia Baptist Medical Center. He is a diplomat of the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons, who participated in a Fellowship in sports medicine at Alabama Sports Medicine and Orthopedics Center.

Dr. Newfield completed an additional Fellowship in foot and ankle surgery at Oakland Bone and Joint Specialists. Dr. Newfield has over 20 years of extensive experience in Atlanta, covering Level 1 Emergency trauma call. He was the former Chairman of Orthopedics at Northside Hospital.

Dr. Newfield has a passion to help people in any and all types of situations. An example of his dedication is a trip to El Salvador to perform a spine and extremity surgery on under privileged children with deformities. Dr. Newfield also volunteered his time to travel on a medical mission’s trip to Les Cayes, Haiti after the devastating Earthquake which destroyed homes and changed lives. During that trip he was able to save many lives and limbs of individuals affected but this tragedy. The devastation of living conditions after the earthquake left a lasting impression on him. In our media section, check out the video of Dr. Newfield saving Tripod’s life (a stray dog), whom he then adopted after performing a life saving surgery on him. Dr. Newfield will go to any length to save any living being.

In Dr. Newfield’s free time he enjoys spending time with his beloved family. Dr. Newfield has been married to his wonderful wife for 4 years. The couple has been happily blessed with two amazing, fun filled, active girls and one little Newfield on the way. Dr. Newfield’s family is his inspiration, motivation and drive. Together they share their love for the outdoors, animals, skateboarding and being a family. It’s fair to say his girls are the love of his life. As a family, their passion is to help others and serve Atlanta by fixing one patient at a time.

Dr. Newfield is currently credentialled to perform Orthopaedic surgery's at Northside Hospital, Piedmont Hospital, Atlanta Medical Center and Perimeter Surgery Center.


Taylor Lesniak, MSN, NP-C, RN, CCRN

Nurse Practitioner

Taylor is a Nurse Practitioner with Thrive Medical Partners. She is an Atlanta, GA born native. She attended Valdosta State University for her Bachelor’s in Nursing, where she received top honor of Valedictorian of The College of Nursing & Health Sciences in Fall, 2013. She has an exceptional 5 years of Intensive Care Unit experience, including recovering open-heart surgery patients and caring for many patients requiring life-supporting measures. She attended The University of Alabama at Birmingham for her Master’s Degree in Nursing, where she specialized as a Family Nurse Practitioner.

She worked in Internal Medicine as the Primary Care Provider for almost 2 years and she is very excited to be a part of Thrive Medical Partners. She has extensive experience working with patients requiring pain control throughout her various roles. In her free time, she enjoys spending quality time with her family, friends, and 3 dogs. 

Malaka Mustafa, PA

Physician Assistant

Malaka is a Board Certified Orthopedic and Interventional Spine Physician Assistant. She studied biochemistry for her undergraduate, completed her Bachelors degree in three years and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Dalton State College in 2014. She soon moved to Knoxville, TN to complete her education as a physician assistant, in December of 2017 she graduated in the top 10 of her class.


She worked in the emergency department and orthopedic surgery simultaneously when she first graduated, as she received more training in orthopedics, she focused her career solely on orthopedics and spine. Malaka is passionate about helping patients receive satisfactory pain control through all walks of life. She is bilingual in English and Arabic. In her free time, she volunteers her time to non-profit clinical organizations, plays tennis with her husband or takes her baby boy to the park.
