Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS)

Also known as Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy (RSD), CRPS is believed to be caused by damage or malfunction in the peripheral and central nervous system with no known cure at this time.

Symptoms vary and can affect different areas of your body and may include:

  • a burning pain

  • increased sensitivity

  • reduced mobility

  • affected area may feel a different temperature than the unaffected areas

  • swollen or stiff joints

Unfortunately CRPS is still not fully understood with the onset occurring after an injury or for no reason at all. However, young adults in their 20's and 30's are the most likely age demographic to suffer from CRPS.
